LAS VEGAS (SAVVY STREAMING) -- Today is the last day of the Specialty Food Association’s Fancy Food Show and I’m glad I was able to experience it. My first year attending, I could feel the passion, energy and excitement the exhibitors, buyers, distributors had being able to meet in person to share their story, products and opportunities with each other.
The startup and incubator kitchen areas were buzzing with networking opportunities and the food across the showroom was amazing! This won’t be my last time rubbing shoulders with industry professionals in the food industry. Stay tuned for the full interviews on my YouTube channel.
Hi, I'm Rocky Nash, an Executive Digital Live Producer in Las Vegas.
Yes, I love content creation from concept to creation. My diverse range of creative skills have attracted brand sponsors that align with my messaging and purpose to guide creators on the rise in not getting caught in the tech. I always say you can, "start where you are with what you have and just go live." Talk about your experience. We all know something that can help someone else.
Yes, I love the latest tech like the next nerd, but don't let waiting for new gear or the perfect rundown slow down your creative progress.
I didn't grow up with a lot and had to make due with what I had. Thank goodness for friends and free WiFi at the library.
With technology comes convenience. You can use the latest social media platforms and apps to create video content on your cell phone and build a business. After more than 5 years creating on my phone as a travel blogger, I decided to make it a full-time career. I even got my first brand sponsor.
It wasn't until I started live-streaming on my desktop computer that I decided to get a digital camera. Why am I telling you all this? Because if you don't start, you won't make progress. If you don't make progress you will give up before you get good at it. Everything takes time.
You need to test going live and creating videos regularly to see if you will even want to do it long term.
Once you've ironed out the wrinkles and refined your workflow, then its time to upgrade your gear and invest in your growth. Hire a mentor, buy a new laptop and a studio to match.
Don't do any of that though until you go live and learn what you and your audience like. Follow your peers for inspiration but keep your own style.
Remember, you can listen to all the experts and watch a hundred YouTube videos, but you only really learn by doing. Just because someone does something one way and it works for them, doesn't mean it will for you. You have to try it yourself to learn what works best for you.
I was going live when top creators on YouTube were saying it was too raw or scary and looks unprofessional.
I've never been much of a follower so I started going live even more, until it became second-nature to me. My audience looked forward to my next stream and appreciated that I took their live requests in consideration when planning my next video tour.
I ended up being more comfortable live than practicing and reading a script. Years later, the same creators that were afraid of livestream have courses on "why you should go live." Everyone has a right to change, but this is proof that trends come and go, but when you stay true to yourself you can still succeed.
Don't let others discourage you when you feel strongly about your creative path. If you already go live, but want to take your production value to the next level, stay tuned! I have more tips on the way.
